습니다 – Used for statements. Attached to verb stems that end with consonants.
Example: 먹다 – to eat

먹 + 습니다 = 먹습니다
Sentence: 이 사과를 먹습니다.
ㅂ니다 – Used for statements. Attached to verb stems that end with vowels.
Example: 가다 – to go
verb + ㅂ니다
가 + ㅂ니다 = 갑니다
Sentence: 그 사람은 갑니다.
